Sat.,Sept.4 – Mulvihill Preserve Rendezvous with Ferns.9:30AM-11:30AM. Meet at Sag Harbor Industries on the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, south of Gingerbread Bake Shop. Unique and varied terrain with ponds, streams and hundreds of ferns. Moderately paced 4-5 mile hike. Leader: Joe Lane, 631-725-3942.

 

Sun.,Sept.5 - Mashomack Preserve. Meet at 9:30 at the North Haven/Shelter Island Ferry. Moderately paced 6-mile hike through meadows, woods, and beaches. Spectacular views of north and south forks. $5.00/person for Ferry and Preserve Donation.

Thurs.,Sept.9 - Pine Neck Park Excursion. 10AM11:00PM. Meet at entrance on Head of Lots Road in East Quogue. View marshlands, Weesuck Creek and Shinnecock Bay. Moderate pace.

Sat.,Sept.11 - Narrow Lane Cleanup. 8AM-9AM. Help us cleanup the litter from our adopted road.  Meet on Narrow Lane, and east corner of Bridgehampton Turnpike. Bring gloves.

Sat.,Sept.11 – Black Owl Loop. 10AM – 2PM Moderately paced 7-mile hike with a wide range of ecological experiences as you walk through upland woods, over streams, past creeks, and ponds.  At the circle in Riverhead take Route 24 south into Flanders. You will find the right turn for "Spinny Road North" on the south side of the road, just east of Birch Creek.  Look for a large paved parking lot with a kiosk.

Sat.,Sept.11 – Dedication Ceremony naming Barcelona Neck in Sag Harbor as the Linda Gronlund Memorial Nature Preserve.  1:30PM. Meet at Sag Harbor Golf Club parking lot on Barcelona Point Road off of Route 114, Sag Harbor. Short hike to follow with views of Sag Harbor Bay, Cedar Point Park, and Mashomack Preserve.

Sun.,Sept.12 – Sag Harbor Harbor Fest History and Nature Hike in the Long Pond Greenbelt. 2PM-4PM. Sponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt.
Meet at Mashashimuet Parking
Lot. See the pond from which villagers obtained drinking water, the weir where baymen challenged the water company for the access to hunt eels and alewives, the pond where ‘icemen’ cut and stored the refrigerant for villagers and New Yorkers and see how the Greenbelt has survived to be acclaimed one of NY State’s rarest habitats for nature.

Sun.,Sept.12 – Sag Harbor Harbor Fest Maritime Hike-9:30AM-Noon. Meet at the windmill on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor. Take a walk through Sag Harbor’s Maritime Past.  Learn about colorful captains and Sag Harbor’s surprising Japanese connection.

Sat.,Sept.18 - Red Creek Park Excursion. 9:30AM-11:00AM. Meet at the parking lot on Old Riverhead Road, Hampton Bays.  Moderately-paced hike with views of Penny Pond and Hubbard Creek.

Sun.,Sept.19 – Hubbard Creek to Sears Bellows Circuit. 10AM-Noon. Meet on Red Creek Road in Hampton Bays, 100 yards from Route 24.  Moderately-paced hike with numerous water views, a waterfall and several ponds. See Black Duck Lodge.

Thurs.,Sept.23 – Laurel Valley Meander. 5:30PM-7PM. Meet at the kiosk located on Deerfield Road in Noyac across from Deerwood Path (North Side Hills). Fast-paced hike through wooded knolls and laurel-filled ravines. Hilly terrain.

Sat.,Sept.25 – Long Pond Greenbelt Horseback Ride. 10AM-Noon. BYO Horse. Meet on Narrow Lane south of Haines Path in Bridgehampton. Leisurely ride with views of Long Pond, Little Long Pond, and Crooked Pond.

Sun.,Sept.26 - Elliston Park Trek. 10AM-Noon. Meet at the Park entrance on Millstone Brook Road in Southampton for a moderately-paced hike with views of Wolf Swamp and Big Fresh Pond.
