Sat., Oct.25- Celebrate South Fork Trails Weekend by joining East Hampton Trails Preservation Society on their inaugural hike of the 165-acre Jacobs Farm, saved from development by joint Town/County efforts.  While not as dramatic as the nearby beech forest of Stony hill, this new preserve is strangely captivating and far more beautiful than the 45 houses originally planned.  A brief ceremony and ribbon cutting will precede the hike.  Meet on Red Dirt Rd. in Springs, a few hundred yards east of the intersection with Accabonac Rd. (2 miles)

Leader: Nancy Kane, 631-324-5799.

Sun., Oct.26-Grand Opening of the Mulvihill Preserve Trail. 10AM-12:30PM.  Join STPS and the Southampton Town Community Preservation Fund Department for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Mulvihill Preserve Trail. Moderately paced hike through oak/hickory and beech forest with views of ponds, streams and glacial erratics. Meet on Bridge Lane off of Brick Kiln Road in Bridgehampton. Following the hike you are invited for refreshments at the former Schaffner residence, Southampton Town’s newest acquisition in the Long Pond Greenbelt, located at 1061 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike.  Signed copies of the recently released book, Trail Guide to the South Fork by Mike Bottini will be for sale with part of the proceeds to benefit Southampton Trails Preservation Society.
