Having North Haven Trails Association’s events on this website will give members of the group an additional means of accessing their schedule of hikes.  Posting these events will also help encourage the residents of North Haven to visit the Village owned Genet Creek property and support NHTA’s efforts to protect this natural resource.

Use of the North Haven Trail System is limited to North Haven residents or their guests. This is a small and very ecologically sensitive area.  It is an enormous challenge to steward it.  Restricted access will help ensure the sustainability of the resource.

This group has a clear vision for the preservation of this lovely area and their enthusiasm is contagious. The Association is working hard to make sure that its activities are not only enjoyable, but also educational. The schedule of upcoming events follows.

February 16th (Saturday) 9:00AM; St. Valentine's Day Loop Trail Walk. Meet at the North Haven Village Hall.

March 15th (Friday) 9:00AM; Genet Creek Trail cleanup (this will involve clearing the trails). Meet at the North Haven Village Hall.

April 6th (Saturday) 10:00AM; General membership meeting of the Trails Association at the North Haven Village Hall. Ken Kindler, Open Space and Hiking Advocate, will speak to us about the Paumanok Path. There will be refreshments served at the end of the meeting that is to be followed by a hike on the Loop Trail.

April 27th (Saturday) 9:30AM; Plant identification hike on the Loop Trail led by Muriel Falborn. Meet at the North Haven Village Hall.

May 4th (Saturday) 8:00AM; seasonal bird identification hike on tile Genet Creek Trail led by Josephine DiVincenzi. Meet at tile North Haven Village Hall. Please contact John Hilgeman at 725 4764 or Jeanne Vielbig at 725 0102 if you plan to participate as the number of hikers is limited.

June 1st (Saturday) 9:00AM; Genet Creek trail debris removal and marking. Meet at the North Haven Village Hall.

There are over 140 members in the Trails Association. As the membership has grown, so have its activities. If you can spare a little time help would be appreciated in several areas. Please let us know if you can assist with trail clearing and maintenance, trail walks or media presentation. Some of our future plans include a kayaking trip into Genet Creek this summer and clearing a previously unused section of the trail. Your help would be greatly appreciated and would make the trail system even better.
