North Haven Trails Association, Inc.

P. O. Box 2658

Sag Harbor, N. Y. 11963

Having North Haven Trails Association’s events on this website will give members of the group an additional means of accessing their schedule of hikes.  Posting these events will also help encourage the residents of North Haven to visit the Village owned Genet Creek property and support NHTA’s efforts to protect this natural resource.

Use of the North Haven Trail System is limited to North Haven residents or their guests. This is a small and very ecologically sensitive area.  It is an enormous challenge to steward it.  Restricted access will help ensure the sustainability of the resource.

This group has a clear vision for the preservation of this lovely area and their enthusiasm is contagious. If you would like to know more about this initiative feel free to contact the North Haven Trails Association’s President, John Hilgeman 631-725-4764 or Vice President, Jeanne Vielbig 631-725-0102.

The Association is working hard to make sure that its activities are not only enjoyable, but also educational. The schedule of upcoming events follows.

January 1, 2003 (Wednesday):  Participate in the North Haven Trails Association fourth annual Start Your New Year Right Trail walk starting in front of the North Haven Village Hall on Ferry Road at 10:00 AM.  This will take approximately 45 minutes, followed by hot chocolate.  This is our most popular hike so come and enjoy the first day of 2003 on the Loop Trail. Contact John Hilgeman (725 4764) or Jeanne Vielbig (725 0102) for further information.  Thank you WLNG for 39 years of caring.

February 21, 2003 (Friday):  The North Haven Trails Association is conducting a cleanup on the Genet Creek Trail starting at 9:00 AM in front of the North Haven Village Hall on Ferry Road (RT 114).  Contact John Hilgeman (725 4764) or Jeanne Vielbig (725 0102) for further information. Thank you WLNG for 39 years of caring.

There are over 140 members in the Trails Association. As the membership has grown, so have its activities. If you can spare a little time help would be appreciated in several areas. Please let us know if you can assist with trail clearing and maintenance, trail walks or media presentation. Some of our future plans include a kayaking trip into Genet Creek this summer and clearing a previously unused section of the trail. Your help would be greatly appreciated and would make the trail system even better.
